Vincent Whelan is organising an indoor football tournament to raise funds for Jigsaw, The National Centre for Youth Mental Health, to highlight youth mental health and suicide. The event is set to take place on Sunday, August 27th at 10am at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght.
Vincent told InTallaght: “So as we get closer we have confirmed a Free Style football team by Street Soccer Ireland, a Bohs legends team captained by Celtic legend Paul Byrne, Irish musicians including The Coronas and special guests, a team of celebs, a team of former League of Ireland professionals and some Shamrock Rovers management and coaches. I want to be able to help anyway possible with the prevention of suicide. Football is a great way of bringing people together and with having so many high profile people in attendance on the day of the event it shows we all want to help and reach out to people who need reaching out to.”
Nicky will be one of the artists participating, as well Irish star Stephanie Roche, Dessie and Richie Baker, League of Ireland players Killian Brennan and Jay Byrne plus Richie Kiely, Paddy Holahan and Brian Ormond.

The big event took place at Old Trafford on 5th June 2016, where celebrities, football legends and a crowd of almost 70,000 people came together for the 10th Anniversary of the star-studded event.
“We said we wanted to smash our fundraising record for Unicef and we did it! Thank you so much to everyone who came to the match or donated on the night; you helped make it the biggest and best Soccer Aid so far. In the ten years since Soccer Aid began we’ve raised £24 million for Unicef so they can help keep even more children safe. That’s incredible and something we could only dream of when Soccer Aid began all those years ago.”

Nicky was amongst the presenters of the night, and he got the crowd cheering when he asked for his famous Mexican wave. If you watch the videos, you’ll notice that his voice wasn’t 100% there, so I want to wish him a very speedy recovery.
