Strictly Come Dancing tour 2014

Susanna Reid, Abbey Clancy, Deborah Meaden and Nicky Byrne have all been confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2014 live tour.

They will join Natalie Gumede, Mark Benton and Ben Cohen – who left the current series last weekend – in a star-studded line up set to travel to ten different venues in nine different UK cities.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli will also be on hand to give their expert feedback and all important scores – with former Strictly favourite Lisa Riley returning to the glitterball dance floor as host.

Choreographer Craig directs the live show for the fourth year running.

“Strictly is intense, absorbing, enormously demanding and endlessly enjoyable,” said BBC Breakfast host Susanna.

“I’m thrilled I’m going to be part of the tour, I’ll be making sure I’m on top form, to put on the best show possible for the wonderful arena audiences around the country.”

Model Abbey added: “I’m having the time of my life on Strictly this year and I am so excited to be joining the 2014 tour.

“Dancing in some of the biggest arenas around the country is such a great opportunity and I can’t wait to thank everyone for the support I’ve received on the TV series.”

Deborah Meaden added she was “gutted” her Strictly run had ended, saying the chance to wear “those fabulous costumes and dance with the gorgeous Robin again is too good to miss!”

The multi-million pound production will open at the Birmingham NIA on 17 January 2014.

Strictly fans get to watch the celebrity dancing couples competing live for the TV judges’ votes and then get to vote themselves with their mobile phones.

Kian Egan will do well on I’m A Celebrity, says Westlife’s Nicky Byrne

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’s Kian Egan won’t shy away from any disgusting Bush Tucker Trials, according to his former Westlife bandmate Nicky Byrne.

Kian entered the Australian jungle along with nine other celebrities at the weekend, hoping to be crowned the King of the Jungle 2013. So far, he hasn’t been chosen by the public for any challenges but Nicky says he won’t have any problem getting stuck into a nasty task if it comes his way.

“I think he’ll do well on the show as he won’t shirk away from anything put in front of him,” said Nicky during a chat with Ray D’Arcy on Irish radio station Today FM.

“I think with these kind of shows, especially I’m A Celebrity, people like to see the people crying and dying to do these kind of things but Kian will just get stuck in!”

As for whether Kian is naturally competitive, Nicky said: “Yes. Out of us all, probably me and Kian would have clashed a little bit with our competitiveness as I’m very competitive as well.”

When Kian was announced as an I’m A Celeb contestant for 2013, Nicky tweeted: “Wishing @KianEganWL the V best in his jungle ventures. Kangaroo anus? Not a bother to him! But reunion is a further yr away with those burps!”

Sadly, the reunion reference was just a joke as he told Today FM there were “absolutely” no plans to get Westlife back together any time soon. “I swear to God, sitting here now, there has never been a plan,” he said, although added that he knew other bands had done it very successfully.

“Take That left it ten years and came back… they took it up to the next stage, I suppose. They came back bigger than they ever were and did stadiums. I think it came down to a lot of nostalgia and their songs were very, very good. They took it to the next level. Boyzone came back and did it to the same level they were at when they broke up, which was still enormous.”

Nicky Byrne: ‘Westlife success down to You Raise Me Up’

Westlife were on the verge of splitting in the mid-2000s – until they agreed to record single You Raise Me Up after years of snubbing the track, according to Nicky Byrne.

The singer admits the four piece didn’t know how to spot a hit, and continually turned down the Secret Garden tune.

Westlife came close to parting ways in 2005 but Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh eventually convinced them to record the track – and their fortunes turned around.

Writer Nicky Byrne is a hit with Cecelia Ahern

POP hunk Nicky Byrne is writing a song for his author sister-in-law Cecelia Ahern for an upcoming project.

PS I Love You scribe Cecelia (31) has a number of projects on the go, such as upcoming flick Love Rosie.

And ex-Westlife star Nicky (34) — married to her sister Georgina — is using his musical skills for a screen adaptation of her work.

A source close to Nicky revealed: “He was approached by the production team and he came up with a song in London.

“He wrote it with Wayne Hector, who wrote a lot of Westlife’s greatest songs.

“The team is confident they’ve come up with a killer song.”

The source added: “But it still needs to cross a number of bridges before it’s given the thumbs up from Cecelia’s camp.”

The project is Nicky’s first foray into songwriting and the first time he has worked with Cecelia.

Nicky in no hurry to tread boards

He’s out to conquer the world of television, but you’ll be waiting a long time before you see singer-turned-presenter Nicky Byrne acting.

The father of two told The Diary that he “doesn’t want to chase a dream” at this stage in his life.

“I did a brief acting course in New York years ago, but for me it’s a confidence thing,” he said.

Nicky has become the new co-host of RTÉ six-part series The Hit, alongside Aidan Power, which will air next month.

“This is exactly where I want to be right now, and the fact that it’s presenting and music combined is perfect,” said Nicky.

Music-based formats seem to be ruling the roost in RTÉ at the moment, with Liam McKenna currently filming Music Inc for RTÉ Two, which is due in the autumn.

“We’ve been filming for a few months now and it’s going pretty well. The show is a little bit like The Apprentice, but for this industry,” Liam said.

“We’ve taken 10 transition-year students and they’re all competing to win a job working with me on tour. They’re set a challenge each week by a celebrity and each week one is eliminated.”

So far they have designed costumes for Tulisa, performed a remix of The Saturdays and shot a video for the X Factor finalists.

Nicky Byrne would love radio show

Former Westlife star Nicky Byrne, who recently sat in for Ryan Tubridy on his morning RTÉ 2fm show, has said that he would love to present more radio.

Former Westlife star Nicky Byrne, who recently sat in for Ryan Tubridy on his morning RTÉ 2fm show, has said that he would love to present more radio.

When asked if he would present a regular show on 2fm if he was offered a slot, he said: “Who knows. It’s a huge commitment. I’ve met people in the UK and I’m waiting on things to come off and TV is where I’d love to be both here and across the water.

“I always want to live here but it would be silly of me to ignore the fact that Westlife have a fan base in the UK as well but…if they [2fm] were serious about it, it would be hard not to listen to that option and that opportunity to be honest.”
