On his way to to London for the London Eurovision Party 2016, Nicky took the Soccer Aid trophy with him (that he’s had for the past two years). He tweeted a few pictures from the airport in Dublin that show how the very special possession traveled. 😉 No worries Nicky, it’ll be back in Ireland before you know it!

There’s no better way to start the weekend than by getting two new versions of Nicky’s debut single, ‘Sunlight’. You can listen to both of the remixes by visiting Nicky’s Official YouTube Channel, or by watching the videos below:
Nicky recently chatted to RSVP Magazine where he revealed that he would be willing to take some time off from radio, or to work around his job on 2fm, to tour his upcoming album which features his Eurovision single ‘Sunlight’.
“I wouldn’t be able to take months off the radio, certainly not, but we couldn’t probably arrange some live dates. That’s all pending on how well so many things do. That is the part I love the most. The thought of going live on stage and singing songs that I’ve written that would be a carrot to dangle in front of me. That would be awesome. Sitting down with a tour director, coming up with creative ideas, wow that would be incredible.”
Nicky also opened up about his upcoming album and revealed that it will probably be coming out in May (like previously mentioned).
“I’ve two songs still to record that we’ve co-written. Now I’m signed to Universal (in Ireland) I’m assuming it’ll be around Eurovision time, probably May, because I guess that makes sense”. But they might say they’ll go with the second single before releasing that. I’d imagine certainly before summer.”
Big news! Nicky is the last confirmed act for the 2016 London Eurovision Party! The big event will take place this Sunday, April 17 at the Cafe de Paris.
Hosting the event are the dynamic duo, Nicki French who represented the UK in 2000 at Eurovision and BBC commentator and radio presenter Paddy O’Connell. As well as some fantastic live performances the Eurovision DJ Dave will entertain the guests throughout the evening with classics and dance mixes alike.
Tickets are sold out, but Universal Music is giving two people the chance to attend the event. Sign up by CLICKING HERE!
Thanks to HB Ice Cream, Nicky and Jenny received some delicious treats during today’s show.
Eoin and Niamh also went into the studio to talk about the Aoife Beary Trust. They will be dancing in “Strictly For Aoife”, a Strictly Come Dancing night in Hope of Aoife Beary’s continued recovery and in Remembrance of Olivia Burke and Eimear Walsh (Loreto College Foxrock 2012). All money raised will go to their votes on the night and also for a great cause! You can donate here.
Nicky does it all: whether it’s singing, radio, tv, football… He’s incredibly talented. Well, this year has been very busy with his upcoming debut album, Eurovision, Soccer Aid and of course, The Nicky Byrne Show. But guess what? Nicky revealed to Goss.ie that he is in talks with RTé about hosting a new show!
“I have a couple of different things that I’m talking to RTE about,” he said. “It’s about getting the right format.”
We wish Nicky the best of luck and hope RTÉ finds the perfect show and format for him! We already know he’s a fantastic host 🙂
The former Westlife star thanked Vogue Williams for standing up for him.
Nicky Byrne has opened up on the controversy surrounding Irish radio stations not playing his Eurovision song.
The former Westlife star is representing Ireland in this year’s song contest, but stations have been hesitant about playing Sunlight on the airwaves.
2fm chief Dan Healy recently speculated the snub was down to station rivalry as Nicky hosts a show on 2fm.
Speaking at the Freedom of Dublin fashion show at Citywest Hotel, the pop star revealed he doesn’t know why his rivals aren’t playing the track.
“I know they’re not playing the song but I don’t know what the reasons are,” he told Goss.ie.
“All I know is I signed a record deal with Universal and they gave the song to everybody so they have it.
“I don’t know what’s happening after that. I don’t want to get involved in the politics of it.

Vogue Williams recently slammed the stations who have refused to play Nicky’s song, calling them “s****y” and demanding they should support him.
“I saw Vogue said that and Brian McFadden retweeted it, that was really nice,” Nicky said.
“Eurovision will come and go, in six weeks time it will be done and dusted and nobody will care.
The running order of the Semi-Finals of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest has been unveiled by Host Broadcaster SVT. Nicky will be the 7th Person to Perform on May 12th!
Following the same format that has been in place since 2013, producers decided the running order to ensure that each song stands out and to create a more exciting television show. The decision was approved by the EBU Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand and the Chairman of the Reference Group, Dr. Frank Dieter Freiling.
“My goal is to give every song maximum space so it’s surrounded by other songs that make it stand out and shine for three minutes. This also reduces the anxiety surrounding where a country is placed in the running order. Wherever the artist is singing they have a chance to be noticed”, said Christer Björkman, Contest Producer for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
Here’s the running order for Semi-Finals 2:
8. FYR Macedonia
The running order for the Grand Final will be decided after the second Semi-Final. The first Semi-Final has 18 participants and will be held on 10th May while the second with 19 contestants takes place on 12th May. The Grand Final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Saturday 14th May.
